Sharmistha Ghosh Solomon
Sharmistha Ghosh Solomon started Avian’s CSR and advocacy practice in 2013. In the past five years, she has worked with multiple UN agencies, not-for-profit organization, development agencies running public advocacy campaigns around thematic areas like HIV/AIDS stigma, e-waste management, access to condoms, antimicrobial resistance, access to vision care, rights for women in sex work, livelihood for leprosy-affected people, gender equality, sustainable transport, reducing road accident and climate change. Her expertise lies in stakeholder engagements, crisis management and legislative introduction.
Given the company’s focus on CSR, she spearheaded a primary research that resulted in the PR industry’s first report on channelising CSR funds into micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME), in association with PHD Chamber. As a result of the report, titled ‘Bolstering MSMEs for Make in India: With Special Focus on CSR’, CSR rules can be interpreted to include skill building opportunities for MSMEs now in the CSR fold.
Sharmistha won the Government Affairs Advocacy and Community (Individual) Award at Fulcrum Awards 2016. She was featured in the Top 100 (Global listing) of CSR professional – World CSR Awards list in 2016.
